Auto Extrication Scenario
As part of the Cruisin' Classics Car Show on May 14th, Van
Buren Fire Department in collaboration with the Indiana
State Police and Bloomington Hospital Ambulance Service
(BHAS) ran a mock auto extrication scenario based around
a drunk driving accident. The scenario involved two vehicles
with entrapment. Also scheduled to attend was Air Evac Lifeteam,
however, the weather conditions prevented unnecessary flight
for the crew. The dispatch came out at 13:37 for a two vehicle
1050U (motor vehicle accident unknown if injuries). Rescue
9, unit 901 and BHAS Medic 214 were responding as Indiana
State Troopers marked on scene and confirmed that there
were injuries as well as entrapment. The department completed
two extrications and remained on scene until the coroner
arrived for the one fatality and the scene was cleared by
state police. The scenario lasted 37 minutes from dispatch
to when command was terminated. Van Buren would like to
extend its thanks to all the personnel that attended and
to the Monroe County Cruisin' Classics Car Club. In attendance
