4th of July Parade
This year at the Monroe County 4th of July Parade Van Buren Township Fire Department passed out frisbees to the crowd as the parade went through downtown Bloomington. It was a hot day and the firefighters felt it as they ran back and forth from the truck to the spectators waiting for their frisbee. Twelve hundred and fifty frisbees were purchased to promote the departments 35th year of providing fire and medical services for Van Buren Township.

2005 FLIPS RUN
WE WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL THE PARTICIPANTS AND SPONSORS OF THIS YEARS FLIPS' RUN
Although the weather did not cooperate with us this year, we had a lot of fun with the whole experience. Jon's parents Dennis and Linda and his aunt Rose Marie all made the trip from Valporaiso to celebrate with us the life and legacy of their son. Jon's brother, Christian, also came out to the station and set in on the "revised" hand of poker the bikers played. And we were saddened to hear that Grandma had injured herself and wasn't able to make the drive. Dinner was great with a hog donated by Dale Conard and prepared by Captain Bill Tusing, corn from Melton's Orchard was deliciously prepared by Firefighter Anita Paynter, drinks were donated by Coca-Cola and lots of great sides and desserts were provided by the personnel at Van Buren Township. The winner of this years ride was Samantha Stewart, she received a black leather riders jacket from Wild & Wonderful Leather Company out of Brown County, Indiana. Second place went to Dave and Julie Chandler, they received a $100 gift certificate from Pit Bull Leather, also out of Brown County. Great door prizes were provided by the Awards Center, Winters and Associates, O'Charley's and Jiffy Treat. All in all we marked the event a success and cannot wait to see everyone next year!
